Charlotte Food Deals That Are Actually Worth It |
Eight current deals where $20 still goes a surprisingly long way, from $7.50 bánh mì to $1 wings and $10 lunches. |

A cheap meal is only a deal if you actually want to eat it.
A recent Charlotte Reddit thread about food deals sent us down a rabbit hole, but instead of copying the recommendations into a list, we checked current restaurant menus and specials and compared them with recent Google reviews.
The result is a Charlotte-wide list of deals that still look genuinely useful right now, from sub-$8 bánh mì to $1 wings and $10 Cuban lunches.
Prices and specials can change, so check the restaurant’s current menu before making a special trip.
1. Pho Van: bánh mì starting at $6
The deal: Pho Van’s current menu lists its pan-fried egg bánh mì at $6, shredded pork skin at $6.75, grilled pork or chicken at $7.50, pork meatball at $7.75 and the special combination at $7.95.
That makes this one of the easiest ways on this list to get a real restaurant meal for comfortably under $10.
The value angle also holds up in the review sample we pulled for this story.
Recent Google reviewers repeatedly mention reasonable or fair prices alongside the food, including one diner who described the portions as abundant and the prices as fair.
Where: 5615 South Blvd, Charlotte
2. Azucar Cuban Restaurant: $10 weekday lunch specials
The deal: Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Azucar lists a lineup of $10 lunch entrées including ropa vieja, pollo guisado, palomilla, vaca frita, pollo a la plancha, camarones enchilados, picadillo and more.
Most of the lunch specials come with white rice, black beans and sweet plantains.
This is one of the strongest deals in the group because it is not a single discounted dish.
One Google reviewer in our sample said they had been back close to 20 times for the lunch special, while another wrote, “The lunch specials are $10!” and specifically called out the rice, beans and plantains.
Where: 14825 Ballantyne Village Way, Charlotte
3. Sabor Latin Street Grill: $1.49 tacos and a full week of specials
The deal: Sabor has one of the most useful recurring deal calendars we found.
Monday brings a $7 Three Amigo Burrito.
Tuesday has $1.49 Tacos Auténticos, $2 Tacos Americanos and $3 Chimi Shrimp.
Wednesday offers 99-cent kids meals with a qualifying adult purchase, Thursday has $3 empanadas, and Sunday takes $5 off family meals.
Sabor also runs its taco happy-hour pricing Monday through Friday from 3 to 5 p.m.
The reviews we downloaded reinforce the value story without making it sound too good to be true.
Customers mention “good price,” “well priced” food and generous portions, and one reviewer specifically called out Tuesday taco night and the Wednesday kids special.
Where: We reviewed the 415 Hawthorne Lane location, but the specials are published by Sabor for its locations.
4. Ilios Crafted Greek: a $44.95 family meal that feeds 3 to 4
The deal: Ilios lists a family meal for $44.95 that feeds three to four people.
It includes one protein, two large sides, a salad, pita and sauce.
Split four ways, that works out to about $11.25 per person before tax.
The review sample here was particularly useful because diners independently bring up both portion size and value.
One reviewer described “great portions” and “fair prices,” while another said the platter offered “great value.”
Where: 1514 S Church St, Charlotte
5. Town Brewing Co.: $1 wings every Monday
The deal: Town Brewing currently advertises $1 wings every Monday from 4 to 10 p.m.
The Monday promotion also includes $8 Moscow Mules and 25% off appetizers and flatbreads for teachers.
Town also runs a kids-eat-free night every Tuesday.
The Google reviews we pulled were much more focused on the beer, patio and overall experience than the wing pricing, so we are treating the restaurant’s current event calendar as the evidence for this deal.
Where: 800 Grandin Rd, Charlotte
6. Calle Sol SouthPark: $10 lunch features
The deal: Calle Sol’s SouthPark ordering menu currently lists several $10 lunch specials.
Choices include picadillo, chaufa, lechon asado, a chopped solterito salad and a Miami Cubano.
The lechon comes with rice, beans and sautéed onions, while the Cubano combines sweet ham, lechon and Swiss cheese on toasted Cuban bread with mustard and pickles.
For a sit-down restaurant in SouthPark, that is a particularly strong lunch price.
Where: 3100 Apex Dr, Suite 104, Charlotte
7. Lee’s Hoagie House: $6.99 lunch on Wednesday and $1 wings Thursday
The deal: Lee’s runs a Wednesday lunch special from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a 6-inch hoagie, chips and fountain drink starting at $6.99.
On Thursday, dine-in customers can get $1 wings plus $1 select drafts and cans all day.
If your goal is maximum food for a small bill, the Wednesday combo is one of the cleanest deals on this list.
Where: 15025 Lancaster Hwy, Charlotte
8. Bradshaw Social House: $6 burgers Wednesday
The deal: Bradshaw Social House advertises $6 burgers all day Wednesday.
Tuesday is also half-price wing night, and Thursday brings $5 drafts.
For this list, the Wednesday burger is the standout because it turns a full-service bar-and-grill meal into one of the cheaper burger nights we found in South Charlotte.
Where: 8440 Rea Rd, Charlotte
So which deal should you actually try?
If you want the cheapest everyday option, start with a bánh mì at Pho Van.
If you need a weekday sit-down lunch, Azucar and Calle Sol both have legitimate $10 options.
If you are feeding several people, Ilios is the most interesting family-value play.
For recurring weekly deals, Sabor gives you the most choices, while Town Brewing, Lee’s and Bradshaw are better if you can plan around a specific day.
How we put this together
This list started with a recent discussion in the Charlotte subreddit about where locals are still finding good food for the money.
We then checked current restaurant menus and specials rather than relying on remembered Reddit pricing.
For Pho Van, Azucar, Sabor, Ilios and Town Brewing, we also reviewed samples of 100 Google reviews per restaurant to see whether diners independently talked about value, portions and the specific specials.
That review research is context, not a scientific ranking, and individual experiences vary. |
