Sugar Creek Brewing Expands with New Airport Taproom and Gastonia Facility

Charlotte's beloved brewery broadens its reach with strategic new locations

Sugar Creek Brewing Company is making significant strides in expanding its presence across the Charlotte region.

The brewery is set to open a new taproom at Charlotte Douglas International Airport and establish a comprehensive facility in Gastonia.

These developments underscore the brewery's commitment to growth and its confidence in the area's thriving craft beer scene.

New Taproom at Charlotte Douglas International Airport

Travelers passing through Charlotte Douglas International Airport will soon have the opportunity to enjoy Sugar Creek's offerings.

The brewery plans to open a 939-square-foot taproom in Concourse A, near Gate A22 and the Wright Brothers exhibit.

This location will accommodate 40 guests and is designed to provide a "faster, beer-forward experience" for those on the move.

Co-founder Eric Flanigan emphasized the importance of quality, even for travelers with limited time.

This expansion not only introduces Sugar Creek to a broader audience but also enhances the airport's selection of local flavors.

Major Expansion in Gastonia

In addition to the airport taproom, Sugar Creek Brewing is undertaking a substantial project in Gastonia.

The brewery has acquired the former Cavendish Brewing space at 207 N Chester St.

Plans are underway to transform this location into a combined production facility, taproom, and food-and-beverage complex.

This initiative aims to create a destination that serves as both a production hub and a community gathering spot for Gaston County.

The project reflects Sugar Creek's ambition to deepen its roots in the region and contribute to the local economy.

Implications for the Charlotte Craft Beer Scene

Sugar Creek's dual expansion signifies more than just business growth.

It highlights the maturation of Charlotte's craft beer industry, demonstrating that local brands can successfully extend their reach to high-traffic areas like airports and invest in regional production facilities.

Moreover, this move illustrates the ongoing economic development extending from Charlotte into surrounding communities like Gastonia.

For fans of Sugar Creek Brewing, these expansions mean more opportunities to enjoy their favorite brews in new and convenient locations.

For the region, it's a testament to the confidence local businesses have in the area's growth and potential.

Cheers to that.
