From Sushi to Snack Bars: Charlotte’s Got the Range |
This week, we’re bouncing from chopsticks to chili dogs. South End’s newest spot YUGENN is all sleek omakase and Japanese precision — while over in Plaza Midwood, Clark’s Snack Bar is reminding everyone why old-school still slaps. We’ve also got fall festivals, wine tastings, and a corgi race (yes, really) packed into the weekend lineup. 🍁🐶 So grab your calendar — and maybe a fork — because Charlotte’s food scene is heating up faster than a fryer at lunch rush. |
🍽️ YUGENN (South End, opening Oct 15)Charlotte’s dining scene is leveling up again — this time with a sleek omakase experience that blends Japanese precision with Queen City creativity. YŪGENN, opening October 15 beneath The Paces apartments in South End, comes from sisters Lisa and Linda Nguyen, known for their modern culinary approach and hospitality chops.
The intimate space will feature a chef-curated omakase menu showcasing seasonal ingredients, inventive plating, and the artistry of dining as an experience. Think ten courses of refined simplicity — where every bite tells a story.
Behind the counter is Chef Marcos Reyes, formerly of Chicago’s Parker Hospitality, bringing national-level finesse to Charlotte’s evolving food culture. With only a handful of seats available each night, YŪGENN is shaping up to be one of the city’s most exclusive reservations.
